Because all of the teachers at the Delta Learning Center have current California teaching credentials, students often see them at local school sites.
Our teachers may tutor at DLC in addition to working in a traditional classroom or as substitute teachers or reading/math specialists for school districts in East Contra Costa County. They may be recognized from the high school mathematics lab or be known as resource teachers, administrators or librarians. Some have even "retired" but found that they miss the challenges and satisfaction that comes with helping students learn.
No matter how our teachers found their way to DLC, the common bond of the Delta Learning Center faculty is simply a love of teaching and a desire to help those who need it most!
Tutoring is always done one-on-one, which allows us to tailor our curriculum to the needs of each individual student. We are open year-round and offer flexible scheduling options.
Our low tuition is made possible by generous donations from local businesses and foundations. These organizations make it possible for us to provide the highest quality tutoring at the lowest possible cost. In recent years DLC has received funding from:
- The Thomas J. Long Foundation
- The Dean and Margaret Lesher Foundation
- The Bernard E. and Alba Witkin Foundation
- Chevron Corporation
- Wells Fargo
- Soroptimist International of Antioch
- Antioch Lions Club
- Kiwanis of Antioch
- Temen, Kaiser, & Cameron LLC
- Rotary Club of the Delta
- Numerous Private Individuals
As a non-profit organization we strive to charge our clients as little as possible.
Our standard rate is $50 per hour, but thanks to the generosity of our supporters, DLC is currently charging a discounted rate of only $40 per hour!
Limited partial scholarships may be available.
